Andrzej Witek running

I’m Andrzej Witek
– and I run. Fast.

Years of long, daily training and dozens of races have turned my dreams into reality. Every win showed me one thing: I want more. To run farther, run better, run faster. Because for me, running is more than a sport – it’s what keeps me moving.

The 140-minute
project

I’ve been into running for over 15 years now. My very first training run came out of a bet: a mate wagered I couldn’t “run a marathon in 140 minutes.”

Since 2015, I was posting on my own independent blog, www.andrzej-witek.pl, documenting my quest to break 2:20 in the marathon. I finally wrapped the project up after… 12 years and nearly 300 posts, crossing the line at the 2023 Seville Marathon in 2:19. Well – for me, that’s a serious chunk of my life’s story.

I’m still running marathons. As of this year, my personal best stands at 2:16:53.

Mountain
running

Driven by passion, I started trying my hand at mountain running along the way. And that turned out to be exactly where I feel strongest as an athlete.

I’ve got several Polish Championship medals to my name, including national titles at the “long distance” and in ultra. Strong results on home soil earned me the chance to represent Poland at the European and World Championships. And it was on the world stage that I hit my best results – 7th place at the 2023 World Championships in Innsbruck on the SHORT distance, and (once again) 7th at the 2025 World Championships in Canfranc on the ULTRA distance.

I can also chalk up 3rd place at the OCC 2025, wins across the UTMB series – the Mozart Marathon, BlueTrail 70 and Istria 100 – and a win in the sprint classification at the 2022 GTWS finals.

Day in, day out, I race for the international ASICS Trail Team.

Daily training, thousands of kilometres logged, dozens of marathons and hundreds of mountain trails – over the years, it all led to a call-up to the Polish national team for the World Mountain Running Championships.

My work
as a coach

Sharing the experience and knowledge I’ve built up with other runners is a big part of my life.

I’m a graduate of the Academy of Physical Education (AWF) in Wrocław, and almost from the very start of my running journey I’ve been just as fascinated by sports theory and training methodology as by the results themselves. That passion grew into coaching, and into building, the “AW – SZYBCIEJ – Team,” the squad I founded.

Over 14 years of coaching, I’ve had the chance to work with more than 500 runners of all levels – getting to know their struggles and their strengths, and sharing both their progress and the sheer joy running gave them. That experience matters to me just as much as my own results. It’s what made me realise that sport is really about people and their stories.

Andrzej Witek’s YouTube channel

My passion for running – and for sharing what I know about training – grew into a YouTube channel.

It runs separately from the blog you’re reading right now, but it’s well worth a look: it rounds out the full picture of who I am.
